What is Spinal Muscular Atrophy?

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a group of inherited and sometimes fatal disease that destroy the nerves controlling voluntary movement such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, as well as swallowing.

SMA is the number 1 killer of children under the age of 2
1 in every 6000 live births are affected with SMA
1 in every 40 people are carriers of the SMA gene
SMA has no age or ethnic preference

The Arizona Chapter Families of SMA

The Arizona Families joined the national organization of FSMA in 1997 and formed the Arizona Chapter with the hopes to raise awareness and funds to help find a treatment or cure for SMA. Families of SMA is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization, all proceeds are used to fund research for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The AZ Chapter and Premier Homes & Land welcomes your support as well.
